If a .zip release was available (or if someone can 'pack' the old extension), there is a workaround but it'll probably stop working soon.

Go to chrome://flags and search for "legacy", find the option "Allow legacy extension manifest versions". This will allow you to reinstall this plugin (and ublock origin) in chrome://extensions by using the "Load unpacked" button.

Cool. This mini tool solves my problem. I just want to use keyboard to select the Google result.
