Skipping building and checking of vignettes

Hi @cicdguy and colleagues,

hope all is well- just a quick feature request, it would be great if there was a similar option additional-r-cmd-build-params such that we could skip the building of vignettes e.g. by passing a corresponding argument to R CMD build in here

For the check argument, I think it hopefully works now with

additional-r-cmd-check-params: |
        --ignore-vignettes

because I have been trying around now for some time in openpharma/crmPack#877

Happy to try a PR for the build args if it helps? Let me know

I got a probably minor syntax issue with the current solution.

In the executed script I get:

  R CMD build --no-build-vignettes
   \
    crmPack/

which gives the error

crmPack/: Is a directory

because the command is already finished after line 1, so lines 2 and 3 don't make sense.

Hi @danielinteractive - this is likely related to the YAML multiline syntax (the | character in the example below) when defining inputs for the build-check-install.yaml workflow.

I can see you already managed to fix the issue by defining it like:

additional-r-cmd-build-params: |
  --no-build-vignettes \

There is also another (recommended) possibility - to have everything in one line which should also work correctly (then no new line is added at the end of the input):

additional-r-cmd-build-params: --no-build-vignettes

Thanks @walkowif , yes, but I think it would be better if it works out of the box in the same way it does for the check options .... Otherwise it is confusing for users

Okay, I fixed this behavior in #288.

Now both ways of providing this input should be possible:

additional-r-cmd-build-params: |
  --no-build-vignettes

(without the \)

and

additional-r-cmd-build-params: --no-build-vignettes
