A follow up to #366 . The history log as implemented in #578 currently keeps all logs until manually deleted. There should be a time purging mechanism.

So generally with auditing, there is often a purge "by time" mechanism since only audit history for a certain time period matters. Lets spawn off purging into its own issue to not add scope creep to this one.
