octokit/request API deprecation

I’ve seen this message for some time. Is this something that needs to be fixed on this project or just a matter of updating dependencies?

is deprecated.

It looks like the message comes from the @octokit/request package rather than auto directly. It's getting deprecation hints from the github response header, but is a bit heavy handed with the wording of the message.

The message makes it sound like the API is going away, but the blog entry makes it clear that certain behaviour is changing¹.

Someone has submitted a PR for this, but given that at the time of writing, the last commit to main was in February 2025 and the last release was in October 2024, it's unclear if anything will be done about it. ☹️
