[auth/internal-error] Having trouble switching from Firebase JS to RN-Firebase in an Expo project

Hello, I'm using the plugin and EAS build with a custom dev client to perform the reimplementation of Firebase. But I'm having trouble with the authentication portion of my application.

Everytime I use any of my social logins or the email/password login I get a "[auth/internal-error] An internal error has occurred, please try again." error.

Hi there!
What do the logs from the native side say? You are not saying what platform this is on, so on android what we're looking for is the full native stack trace from adb logcat or from ios what the exception trace is from the console when launched from Xcode

random question if you know, how do you get the adb logcat logs when using Expo w/EAS? is there some way to see the native logs when doing this kinda work with Expo?

When I run this line,

I get this error in the dev server console

error [Error: [auth/internal-error] An internal error has occurred, please try again.]

and this error in the xcode console, because i ran the project from xcode by prebuilding with expo, and opening the xcworkspace filw with xcode, built it and ran it.

It confuses me because I thought I was already providing the keys via the GoogleService-Info.plist and google-services.json files; why is this necessary ?
Maybe I missed some credentials or api keys.. ? Ill be back if i find any answers myself. Thanks.

do you maybe need to have "remote-notification" aded to the UIBackgroundModes item? I was reading that silent notifications are used to avoid reCAPTCHA so maybe this settings enables them in Expo EAS...

[auth/internal-error] when switching from Firebase JS SDK to React-native Firebase in Expo with EAS

Hello,

I'm facing an issue similar to the one described by the thread owner.

Context:

• I've been using the Firebase JS SDK in my project developed with the Expo managed workflow.
• I decided to migrate to the React-native Firebase library and created a development build.
• The Firebase JS SDK-based authentication works flawlessly on my web app developed with React.

Issue:

• However, on my development build for iOS, I encounter the error "[auth/internal-error] An internal error has occurred, please try again." every time I attempt to authenticate a registered user via email and password.

Additional Info:

• This problem seems to be specific to react-native-firebase since the Firebase JS SDK works fine on the web SDK (JS SDK).
• I've ensured that my Firebase configurations for iOS and other setup steps are correctly done.

Is this a known issue or is there any specific configuration I might be overlooking with React-native Firebase and Expo with EAS?

Any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same issue. After migrating from JS to RN-Firebase in an Expo Project I get an [auth/internal-error] An internal error has occurred, please try again.. It only happens on iOS. Did you resolve the issue?

I didnt solve it, so I sticked with the JS SDK for authentication

I somehow resolved it. Sorry but I do not remember how.

I was able to migrate from the JS SDK to rn-firebase fine but this was about a year ago. As long as you follow the documentation you should not have issues. Just make sure to use this library as a plugin configured with a custom Expo dev client.
