v3 without typescript?

Is it possible to use Capacitor v3 without typescript? I'm just getting setup and running npx cap init generates a capacitor.config.ts with no option not to use typescript. Also the docs only reference typescript https://capacitorjs.com/docs/v3/config and https://capacitorjs.com/docs/v3/guides/deep-links

As someone who hasn't yet adopted typescript I find the docs very hard to read as a result.
