Upgrade to Capacitor 3 and no bridge found

I followed the direction in the upgrade guide and now at the point to run things in the iOS simulator. But the app crashes on startup:

The upgrade guide is dated for the current version of xcode. There it said to delete the public folder and re-create it using the left-click, there is no "Add folder" but there was "Add Group" which seemed to do the same thing. Do you think that is the issue?

Add Group doesn't do the same thing than Add folder, so that's probably the issue.

OK, so what do I do instead? The instructions on the website are wrong/old and do not match reality of xcode today.

The guide says

Right-click on the App group inside the App project and click Add Files to “App”…

I can see the Add Files to “App” in your screenshot
