From @mwengren we should include a notebook showing how to read and plot IOOS MP 1.2-compliant datasets in the IOOS Code Lab - this would help to explain how to understand and read datasets like these, especially if the user isn't familiar with how variable attributes are used in our conventions (and CF as well). It definitely can be a learning curve and is anything but transparent to newcomers..

Do you have dataset in mind? I wonder if we could create some simple ioos-metadata functions to load/plot using hvplot.

I don't have one in particular. Maybe one of the ones I've built as a test for ERDDAP duplication?
