BUG: website returns 404

Not sure if it's a github.io issue or something specific to this repo.

The website is returning a 404:

GitHub Actions reports a successful build, but this happened before. I'm restarting the last build to be sure it is a transient problem.

The pages are back up. Note that restarting the same job did not work. I had to request a new one with workflow dispatch.

Nope. Every PR the site ix rebuilt, sometimes it fails and GitHub fails to tell us so. That is that happened in #280

Looks like it's down again. I don't see any failing actions to cause this though.

We can raise a bug with GH. Nothing is failing though... Hard to debug.

it's back up now, but we should start digging through logs to see what is up.

It seems to be related to the automated dependabot PRs. Not sure what changed that is making it remove all the files in gh-pages. We should change publishing to releases anyway with a MAJOR.MINOR.MICRO version scheme where:

MAJOR: Site renovation. Changes that modify the whole site
MINOR: New notebook
MICRO: Update/fix an existing

What do you think? That way we will track the page with releases and avoid issues like this one.
