I have this exact problem. Yesterday I upgraded from an older version 5.5.3.0 to the latest, and now I cannot get any local audio to work. Making things worse, the old version also no longer works (with a slightly different error) so I have no fallback. I am on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS.

Running from the commandline, I get:

you could try running it as a terminal app instead of as a service - the service doesn't have access to the audio driver.
we need to build ffmpeg with ALSA support but it's non trivial unfortunately.

Thanks for the quick reply. Unfortunately, I get this error running from the commandline as root or as my local user. I get the same error when running as a service. If you have any other troubleshooting steps, I am all ears!
