CXPatcher making steam unusable?

CXPatcher: 0.5.11 (1) - Latest as of today
Crossover: 24.0.7
macOS: Sequoia 15.3.1

All actual game functionality aside, on a fresh install of Crossover performing a default steam bottle functions just fine. Post patching via CXPatcher steam refuses to start ( steamwebhelper not responding error that appears to be common ).

My question is what on top of adding the GPTK is being done, and is there a fix for this known error? I see all manner of things around talking about how to solve this, which didn't work for me, so hoping for some high level guidance.

Have you followed this steps? For example creating a separate bottle for dxmt?
