The update notification shows a Paid Upgrade. You should have received an email with an upgrade discount coupon code to use on the upgrade payment page. You can look up your coupon at the bottom of the same page. We try to release a new major version every 12-18 months for which we provide upgrade discounts that depend on the date of purchase of a license for the previous version. This time, version 5 is the first paid upgrade after [version 4 debuted|https://blog.cyberduck.io/2020/06/18/mountain-duck-4/] in June 2020, with 17 free minor updates released since. Users with a license for version 4 receive an [upgrade|https://mountainduck.io/buy/upgrade/] discount between 20% to 100%. The 100% upgrade is applicable for users who purchased up to 60 days before the Mountain Duck 5 release. I hope that clarifies our pricing for the perpetual licensing of Mountain Duck. We thank all users upgrading to version 5. You make it possible to continue offering Mountain Duck with a traditional perpetual licensing model instead of requiring a subscription. |

I missed the fact that it was a paid upgrade, maybe I didn't check, or maybe the user journey didn't make it obvious to me, I don't know because I am no longer able to replicate that scenario. Please tell me how I can downgrade to the version I paid for. I searched my inbox for "cyberduck" and found nothing, I have never received an email from cyberduck unless I used another email address for it. |

Just found the email, two of them, the price is reasonable, I just bought it, thanks. I need to be more careful next time I see update pop ups on MacOS |

I got a notification to update cyberduck to a newer version, and I thought "well it doesn't hurt, if anything it will make it more secure". So I went ahead and accepted the pop up to update it (I'm on MacOS). After the installation was complete, it told me that I didn't have a license for this new version, so I was surprised about it, so there are two issues:
amount/cost/price
