DOCSIOS is an independent iOS, iPadOS, macOS and watchOS companion app for DOCSight.
It focuses on mobile usability and provides fast, structured access to DOCSIS connection metrics generated by DOCSight.
The interface is optimized for both iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch form factors.
It does not replace the DOCSight web interface, but complements it with focused mobile diagnostics and analysis.

✨ Feature Set

DOCSIOS covers nearly all DOCSight API features, including dashboard, channel analysis, trends, speedtest, BQM, Smokeping, gaming score, events, and journal. Administrative endpoints are out of scope.
The app ships with native iOS home screen widgets, English and German localization, and optimized layouts for both iPhone and iPad.

Important

All diagnostic data remains on the device.

DOCSIOS uses Apple's MetricKit to monitor app performance and stability.

• No analytics or usage tracking is sent to external services.
• Diagnostic data is only shared if explicitly exported or reported by the user.
• The app does not collect or transmit modem data outside of your configured backend.

🔎 Scope Clarification

DOCSIOS visualizes metrics produced by DOCSight. It does not collect modem data directly and does not modify DOCSight.
Issues related to metric generation or DOCSight backend logic should be reported in the official DOCSight repository.

Hi all, quick update from the iOS side 👋

A new TestFlight build is now available: Build 14.

This build now targets the latest DOCSight API changes and expects backend compatibility from v2026-02-27.1 onward.

Changelog highlights (Build 14):

• Adopted new summary fields from GET /api/channels (overall health and aggregate signal metrics)
• Added backend version awareness via GET /health
• Added compatibility messaging in Dashboard (shows current vs required backend version)
• Integrated GET /api/device and added expandable modem details in the Connection card
• Updated signal issue mapping to new backend issue keys
• Improved dashboard card appearance/loading transitions (smooth fade/slide in)

Build 16 is now available on TestFlight. Here's what's new:

• A new Complaint Workflow lets you generate ready-to-send ISP complaint letters directly in the app via the DOCSight API — choose your time period, language, and customer details, then export as PDF or share.
• Speedtest results now include color-coded quality indicators based on your booked bandwidth, visible in the list, dashboard, and detail view. The detail view also shows an overall Speed Health rating (Good / Warning / Poor). Thanks again @itsDNNS for the quick implementation of the Speedtest classification in the API 🙂
• Temperature data can now be overlaid as a dashed line in Trends and Timeline charts, normalized to each chart's scale. Requires weather integration to be enabled in DOCSight (minimum version v2026-02-27.3).
• The iPad Channels View has been refactored to a NavigationSplitView for a native sidebar experience, with a new DS/US segmented picker for easier navigation.

Further improvements include local home screen badge counts for unacknowledged events (updated on app launch, not via push notifications), active filter indicators on toolbar icons, unified filter interactions across Events and Timeline, and standardized Mark All Read behavior.

Build 17 of DOCSIOS is now available for testing. This update focuses on a unified charting system and improved stability during orientation changes.

What's new in this build:

• Unified all app charts (Speedtest, Broadband, Correlation, Trends) using a new global system for a consistent experience.
• Added interactive chart legends that allow toggling the visibility of individual metrics.
• Introduced a full-screen landscape mode for all charts to allow for detailed inspection.
• Implemented smart scaling for metrics with different magnitudes (SNR, Power, Errors) to match the web dashboard.
• Expanded the Correlation timeline to include Upstream Power, Correctable Errors, and Uncorrectable Errors.
• Aligned the visual design of Timeline and Event rows for a more cohesive look and feel across the app.

• Channel Detail: added 3-day time range option
• Settings: new "Chart Defaults" section to configure threshold lines, labels, and fit behaviour

• Introduces Channel Compare: compare up to 6 channels simultaneously from the channel detail view
• Dashboard visual hierarchy cleanup
• Event details are now fully localized and human-readable

With Channel Compare now complete, the app has reached a point where it covers most of the DOCSight API, aside from administrative settings. Feedback is highly appreciated as the experience continues to be refined, and there will still be a few smaller design adjustments along the way. The official App Store launch is getting closer.

Build 23 is now live on TestFlight. Some of the new features I would explicitly announce as experimental or very early beta as I'm able to test just certain scenarios with my DOCSight instance (besides mocking some scenarios in the app directly) 🙂

Insights Tab

The new Insights tab runs four statistical analyses against your local history:

• Prime-Time Degradation — flags consistent evening SNR drops (e.g. "SNR drops 3.1 dB between 20:00–22:00")
• Temperature Correlation — cross-references SNR history with collected weather data; flags if hot days reliably hurt your signal
• Error Trend — flags if uncorrectable errors have tripled compared to last week
• Channel Instability — counts modulation changes per DS channel in the last 24h; flags anything beyond two changes

Everything runs on-device — no extra API calls, no backend changes needed.

Background Notifications

Uses iOS BGAppRefreshTask to periodically check events, health, and speedtest results in the background. Three notification types, independently toggleable. Single-event notifications show the actual event message. All processing happens entirely on-device — no third-party push service involved, so alerts work even when your internet connection is down.

Live Activity / Dynamic Island

Full Dynamic Island support — compact (dot + SNR), expanded (health + SNR Avg + degraded + uncorr. errors), and a Lock Screen banner with a 2×2 metric grid. Starts automatically on degradation detected via background task, stops automatically on recovery. When the backend suppresses a known error spike, a shield badge makes that visible so elevated error counts don't cause unnecessary alarm. The Live Activity and Dynamic Island behaviour can also be triggered manually in the Dashboard.

Fun fact: Dynamic Island brings some sort of Apple Watch support (but more to come 😉)

Due to how iOS interacts with Apple Watch, the Dynamic Island is without real Apple Watch support in DOCSIOS already mirrored to the smart stack on your Apple Watch. Means: If you're using an Apple Watch together with your iPhone and have either auto show of smart stack enabled or swipe down on the watch face you already may see on your wrist if DOCSight identified issues on your DOCSIS health.

Temperature overlay in Channel Detail

Per-channel Power and SNR charts now include the temperature overlay that was previously only available in the Trends and Correlation views.

Note

Background Notifications and Live Activity require the app to reach your DOCSight instance. Since DOCSight typically runs on your local network, these features will only work reliably when your iPhone/iPad is on the same Wi-Fi — or if you've made DOCSight accessible remotely (e.g. via VPN or reverse proxy).

Build 24 is now live on TestFlight — and it's a big one. DOCSIOS now runs on nearly all Apple platforms: iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and as of today, watchOS.

⌚ Apple Watch
A native watchOS companion app with Signal, Gamingscore, Speedtest, and Events pages. Data is fetched directly from DOCSight using credentials synced from the iPhone app during setup — after that, the Watch app operates independently without requiring the iPhone nearby.

📡 Connection Monitor
A new tab featuring a multi-target latency chart with P95/avg/min/max stats, packet loss, per-target detail rows, and a dashboard summary card fetched directly from DOCSight (requires DOCSight v2026-03-11.1).

🔔 Notifications
Background event notifications are now fully localized (EN/DE), include a "Mark as Read" action, and can be filtered by severity level (critical, warning, info) — applying to both banners and the badge count.

🔧 Fixes & Improvements
Smokeping and BQM image viewer gets a redesigned close button and swipe-to-dismiss. Several smaller fixes around the Modulation Detail Sheet, Live Activity, pull-to-refresh, and notification fallback behavior.
