Feature Request: String to PAA

My request is motivated by the need to calculate the slope of a pattern.

So as to not let this request be too specific, it might be more generally useful to convert a pattern to a PAA (double[]) which can then be used to do calculations on it.

PAA conversion like SAXProcessor#ts2string() but in reverse.
