Native vs stdlib feature comparison

I'm currently considering migrating a big codebase from libpq to pgx's stdlib since switching to the pgx interface would require a big refactor. I understand the database/sql interface is slower however it's not quite clear which performance improvements/features are available in the stdlib package when using the regular db interface. From the README, I'm interested in the following features:

• Automatic statement preparation and caching
• Single-round trip query mode
• Binary format support for custom types (allows for much quicker encoding/decoding)

I'm assuming by unwrapping a pgx.Conn I can probably get all these features, but what if I'm using the regular db interface?
As a suggestion, it would be useful to have a "feature comparison" table with what's supported in the stdlib readme (i.e. native/stdlib with pg.Conn unwrap/stdlib through database/sql)

Also, the acceptance of golang/go#67546 means that future versions of Go and pgx should have improved performance and type support with stdlib.
