Black and white layer of video is upside down after going back to the app

Describe your issue

When returning to the app, on some videos, the video has it's black and white layer rotated upside down (180°) .

Depending on the video, I can either reproduce this 100% of the time, or never.

Steps to reproduce

start playback
Press the power button on your device
go back to the app and resume playback
Notice the image rotated 180°

Expected behavior

The image is not rotated upside down

The only happens with some video files and not others, I have no idea how to get findroid to show the details about the current video.

I have tried to reproduce the issue. I have the same settings as you, the same android version but a different device. Maybe try to reproduce the bug on a different android device you own?

I own no other Android device. Like I said, it's highly dependent on the video itself, I'm guessing that's the reason. This is the only video in my library that I have found this issue with (so far).

Hi @sadan4!
I noticed you are running Android 16 (Build CP11.251114.007). Is this a Developer Preview or Beta build?

To see if this is caused by the system drivers in the preview, could you try this test?

1. Go to Settings > Player.
2. Change Hardware Decoding to mediacodec-copy.

Does that stop the issue from happening?

Alternative: you could also try changing the Video Output setting to gpu-next to see if that bypasses the problem.

@Cd16d with mediacodec-copy, not only does the issue persist, when the issue is not occurring, there is a thin transparent green bar at the bottom. I have always been using gpu-next.

Switching the video output to gpu (not -next) mitigates the issue with the black and white layer being rotated however, using mediaplayer-copy with gpu still results in the green bar at the bottom (interesting to note, the green bar disappears whenever the screen is locked and then reopened, the same thing that triggered the black and white layer being rotated)

Ah, sorry! I meant switching from gpu-next to gpu.

So, switching from gpu-next to gpu (while keeping Hardware Decoding on standard mediacodec) resolves the issue?
