Grid Services Active Alerts

Can someone explain the alert: gridservicesactive to me? I get these almost constantly but there never is another alert with them and the PW are constantly connected to the grid.

They are generally only a minute long and sometimes I get two or three together and then big gaps, sometimes spanning hours.

My setup is 2 PW2s with a GW 1.5. Three solar sources.

I believe the GridServicesActive alert will be on if:

• Your system is participating in a VPP in event
• Your system is charging up to max due to a Storm Watch event
• Your system is being controlled by your utility company (i.e. to stabilise the grid)

I wonder if you might be seeing this occasionally due to the third item above?

Personally, I rarely see the alert (I am not signed up to a VPP plan) but have seen it when Storm Watch activated.

Ok. From that information I think I have a 4th scenario.

How about I have charge from grid turned on?

Yeah that could be a possibility too.

In all cases it seems related to when the system is charging from grid.

However, I don't think it is purely "charging from grid" though - but more around how the charge from grid period was triggered (i.e. by the user vs. some sort of system event/utility request).

I could be wrong, but, reason I'm thinking this is... I noticed in the Storm Watch settings, there is a "Max Backup" option which when turned on will set the Powerwall to charge up to Max and maintain that for the number of hours selected.

I tried it, wondering if it would trigger the alert. Although my system was then "charging from grid", I didn't see the alert.

Well I do have Charge From Grid on now, but did not for about a week past. Scrolled back through the days prior and I still see lots of these alerts.

I also have Storm Watch inactive.

So its something other than this for me. The mystery continues.

When I had a Powerwall 2, I would get this constantly as well. I like some of the ideas @mcbirse has and suspect it could have been utility driven or "spontaneous charge from gird" at times, but it seemed more random than not. They have all but disappeared for me since I upgraded to Powerwall 3. This is a fun view because not only does it show the previous GridServiceActive chatter (that silences) but it also show the shift / different alerts for Powerwall 3s:

Since I am on GW2/PW2 the only alerts beside this one now are when I loose grid connection. I no longer get these informational alerts like you do with PW3.
