JASP crashed

• JASP version: 0.19.3
• OS name and version: Windows 11 Version 24H2

• Analysis: I opened the JASP for the first time after installing it, then appeared the message warning with the bug descripted below, and also the welcome window from JASP.
• Bug description: A Warning message "Module missing. It seems the bundled module jaspDescriptives wasn't correctly installed, and thus cannot be loaded. If you installed this version of JASP via an official installer let the JASP team know."
• Bug description 2: "Error. JASP has experienced an unexpected internal error: the engine crashed... JASP cannot continue and will close. [...]"
• Expected behaviour: To open JASP and use it.

Steps to reproduce:

1. On Windows 11 > Start > Click on JASP to open.
2. Then appears the Bug or problem descripted above.
3. Then the error message expressed in the bug description #2
4. The JASP closes itself.

Engine # 0 process is running and it's state is resuming.

Now that I know how all these seemingly duplicate bug reports came to live: Thx for the report again.
Can you give more info on your system and when exactly the crash happens?

Also it would be good to know how you installed jasp. There are 3 methods:

If the crashes persist you could try:

• one of the other install methods.
• update your Operating system fully and restart the machine (especially important are up to date graphics drivers if you run intel graphics)
• run JASP with safe graphics mode:
  
  If JASP crashes on start you can activate safe-graphics via starting a command prompt: Type "command prompt" in the Start menu & then type "c:\Program Files (x86)\JASP\JASP.exe --safeGraphics" and see if JASP is more stable this way.

I finally resolved the problem by changing my OS to Debian 12 Linux. In Linux appears to be more stable.

I think the issue should be closed.
