Question: Is there a way to specify default session?

Hello.
A quick question: is there a way to specify default session that should be pre-selected in lidm? For unknown reason, my lidm keeps showing debug i3 session as the default one.

(or maybe there is a way to make lidm remember which session was selected last time?)

That's already implemented, it saves state under /var/lib/lidm/ by default.

That shouldn't really change from distros or configurations, maybe you have a permission error with that path?

What distro are you on and how is lidm starting?

I'll try to reproduce this when I can, if it's really broken feel free to open an issue reporting this as a bug or do some troubleshooting if you are comfortable with it.

Thanks again. Before i open any issue i will try do debug as much as i can.

Here's what i tried so far:

1. I tried to rename the state file to state.bak - after the reboot the file was recreated with the same contents and permissions (i3 selected as my default environment). After another reboot lidm still shows "i3 (with debug log)" as the default one. 🤔

2. I tried another thing: removed the new state file, rebooted and selected zsh shell as a session. As expected, the file was recreated with different contents:

<my-username>
/usr/bin/zsh

but once I rebooted, there was still "i3 (with debug log)" displayed as default.

3. I removed the /usr/share/xsessions/i3-with-shmlog.desktop file, containing the problematic session config - and after the reboot it displayed i3 as default.

4. With the session file being removed, I again logged in to zsh - the state file was changed accordingly, but after another reboot there was still "i3" pre-selected in the lidm.

Seems like there could be something wrong with the session files? Maybe you could take a look:

@pl-80 if it's bothering you and want a quick fix, use the lidm-git aur package, which already contains the latest upstream commits (it will compile for you)
