On pantheon-systems/wp-redis this action worked back in February and created the branch + PR, it got merged, and there was much rejoicing. Future runs of the action bail because a branch already exists that starts with update-tested-up-to-version-, even as no PR exists for the newer current version of WordPress.

Current WordPress Version: 6.8.1
Found 'Tested up to' version in readme.txt: 6.7.2
Tested up to version (6.7.2) is less than current WordPress version (6.8.1).
Updating files with new Tested up to version.
Updating 'Tested up to' version in /home/runner/work/wp-redis/wp-redis/./readme.txt
Updating 'Tested up to' version in /home/runner/work/wp-redis/wp-redis/./README.md
Checking if a branch with prefix update-tested-up-to-version- already exists.
A branch with prefix update-tested-up-to-version- already exists. Exiting.

Expected behavior:

  • Check if a PR exists updating the WordPress version
  • If old branch WordPress version == current, exit 0
  • If old branch WordPress version < current, create a new PR and close the old one, linking to it.
