When using at least this emoji ✅, the text cursor gets unaligned with the texts that are in the code editor.
This may happen with others but I have not test it.

Thank you for reporting this issue. This problem has existed for quite some time and also affects many emojis and other UTF-8 icons. The issue is related to the Ace editor that VPL uses for code editing. Unfortunately, it appears that the problem has not yet been resolved in Ace itself.

You can verify that the same behavior occurs in the Ace editor’s official demo:

There is also an open issue in the Ace repository tracking this problem:

At the moment, it does not seem that there are plans to fix it.

It is a shame that the issue has been present 5 years in the https://github.com/ajaxorg/ace repository.
I will try to avoid this type of emojis when using the vpl in the future. 😅

We have also encountered this. I believe the issue has actually been known and present in Ace for at least 14 years (check out ajaxorg/ace#460).
