new feed debugging

I've successfully followed a few Chicago centric feeds, but appears none of them have populated stories onto activity pub.

The feeds are

I've spot checked the blockclubchicago .RSS link, and it does seem like they're actually updating it.

Are there a list of steps I should take to debug these feeds -> activity pub posts?

i think i may be seeing this same problem. even with feeds that look to have been around for a while (like xkcd from the example). it seems like the account and profile is there, but zero posts.

this is what i see when i follow the xkcd one. note, however, it says "cancel follow". it appears that the follow is awaiting approval from the xkcd account.
