Problem updating part of jsonb column

it might very well be that I am doing something stupid but:

  Sequel.extension :pg_json_ops


  business_area = "rentals"
  column = Sequel.pg_jsonb_op(Sequel[:payload_before])

  DB[:task_instances]
    .where(Sequel[:task_instances][:task_instance_id] => task_instance_id)
    .update(column.set(['_meta', 'businessArea'], business_area).tap { |x| pp x })

where payload_before is a jsonb column that has the following structure

{
    "_meta": {
        "businessArea": "whatever",
         ....
    },
   ...
}

but this fails with

If you pass update a non-Hash, it expects a string. I'm guessing you probably want:

update(:payload_before => column.set(['_meta', 'businessArea'], business_area)

I get a little bit further, but not quite there yet:

Adding Sequel.extension :pg_array
and

    .update(payload_before: column.set(Sequel.pg_array(['_meta', 'businessArea']), business_area.to_json))

seems to do what I wanted
