Differences in XML output Between PERL and TypeScript

I noticed that when I run the scheduled task of the TypeScript zap2xml code, the guide is not importing. I have to do a forced import in Media Portal each day. Before switching to TypeScript, this was not needed.

I noticed this is not output in line#2, but it is included in the PERL version. Could that be the reason?

Or what is the reason it is not importing. Will share screen shots if I can find time later.

Do you have the outputFile saving to the diectory/filename Media Poral expects? You can specify the exact place to save it doesn't have to be the same directory as zap2xml the default seems to be =outputFile=C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server\xmltv\tvguide.xml

The more I look into Media Portal the more I think other options are better lol. I just read it's expecting a xmltv.dtd file in the same folder this should work https://github.com/XMLTV/xmltv/blob/master/xmltv.dtd

What was the exact options you used to run the perl script (except email/pass) so i can run a test to compare

This post also said you need the zmltv.dtd file in the same folder as your guide so save the file linked above in the same directory as your output file. Based on this I don't think any other changes are required

at noon, I tried a test of a different Scheduled Task.
It did import. So I think whatever I saw this morning, was a result of me running so many tests last night, that perhaps, there was no data to import. 🤷‍♂️(who knows)
See evidence it did import (showing 142 channels and 14,000+ programs imported).

To answer your questions:
This is my PERL/batch input:

REM The above line removes all lines that contain of system="dd_progid" or system="common" and then writes to a new output file called tvguide.xml
copy xmltv.xml "\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server\xmltv\tvguide.xml"
REM The above line is an alternate option to copy the file to another location. Remove comment portion namely "REM"

The lineups/xml output differ in lengths, I think since I have "Favorites" on gracenote left over from zap2it's website.

Bottom line. I think all is well now. I might do some more testing later, but I don't think the code needs altering.
Do you have some idea if Jef will update the "Main" page for the pull request?

I don't know it seems like jef stopped working on this altogether I've made 50 updates since so I just started updating it to be the primary now

REM findstr /V "system="dd_progid" system="common"" xmltv.xml > "\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server\xmltv\tvguide.xml"

REM in a batch file means REMARK so it's not executed. that's why you may have had an issue before with the season/episode before the --mediaportal was added because it reads the first entry. You didn't have REM on that command in your Perl the only argument you had was the -A for New and Live which is built in.

I'd almost think you'd work out of the box with

I know that the REM is like a comment line. I'm 100% sure I tried using it active before you added the --mediaportal.
I was simply leaving it there for reference for myself as notes and other viewers.

Did you say in an earlier conversation that adding movie dates and length pounds the gracenote server? Is there a concern?

The extra details which you weren't using anyway. I added the movie year and program length when available yesterday.

The Perl script if you added -D would pull the program detail page and download addition details like this random Magnum PI episode

So that original date and date on the previously shown aren't available so the date aired was subbed so daily programs will be able to record (local news for example) category Series is the generic.

I'm a little lost. To get the show length and movie year, it puts a higher load on the server, or are you saying to get the actor's names and all the other information with the "-D" option would put a higher load on the server?

Being that gracenote sites seems to go down, I think we should be careful to not shoot ourselves in the foot by asking too much of the website.

Yeah I've literally put everything possible that's in the basic data. The -D option was all the credits and additional categories and dates other than the movie year.
