How can I jump to first/last item on a list?

I couldn't find an answer to this and I'm not sure if this is available by default. It's very often that I want to jump to the last or first item on a list. In every other program this is usually bound to Home & End keys but lazygit doesn't do anything when those are pressed.

So, how can I jump to first/last item on a list?

It's in the help (press ?) menu under "Navigation", the defaults are < and >:

At least it is for the Files panel, but I'm not sure if this is the "list" you were referring to.

Home and End are not available to normal TUI applications, at least not without supporting this protocol. The libraries that lazygit is built on (tcell and gocui) don't support this yet; see gdamore/tcell#671.

@stefanhaller Interesting. I assumed it was trivial since gitui seems to detect Home & End keys on my terminal (Konsole).

Lazydocker can detect home+end keys when viewing docker logs, so lazygit should also be able to do that.

Oh wow, I had no idea that these work just like that. Indeed, you can already rebind the goToTop/goToBottom bindings to <home> and <end>, this works today.

Here's a PR that makes the keys available without having to bind them in the config: #4396.

Heh, of course. It occurred to me that utilities like less have been able to detect Home/End keys since the dawn of time.
