Can pandoc be built fully static?

I looked in the docs but couldn't find anything, the build said it was creating a static binary but ldd showed that not to be the case;

Yes, it can be built fully static, and in fact the linux binaries we provide on our release page are built that way.
See .cirrus.yml to see how we do it.
We use a special alpine container that has ghc and other pandoc requirements built in.

I am still having trouble, what do I need to edit or what option do I need to enable in .cirrus.yml to make the build static?
