convert md to epub,math tax not render well

text in md is

p(x_{1:L}) = p(x_1) p(x_2 \mid x_1) p(x_3 \mid x_1, x_2) \cdots p(x_L \mid x_{1:L-1}) = \prod_{i=1}^L p(x_i \mid x_{1:i-1}).

when i run commond

pandoc -s D:\codeproject\gitbook\so-large-lm\docs\content\ch01.md -o out.epub  --verbose

i get

[WARNING] Could not convert TeX math

  , rendering as TeX

i had tried

pandoc -s D:\codeproject\gitbook\so-large-lm\docs\content\ch01.md -o out.epub --mathjax  --verbose
pandoc -s D:\codeproject\gitbook\so-large-lm\docs\content\ch01.md -o out.epub --katex --verbose

rendered bad too，how can i resolve this problem

--mathml should work with epub v3. At least, it is in the spec. I don't know how well it is supported by EPUB readers.
