Markdown --> Word: Automated numbering for image captions and table captions?

With Markdown --> Word conversion using Pandoc, I can get an output file where figure and table captions are styled, respectively, as Image Caption and Table Caption. But wondering is there then a way to automatically insert the relevant SEQ field (SEQ Figure or SEQ Table) at the start of each line, depending on its style, so that my captions having numbering?

Enable the native_numbering extension:

pandoc  -f markdown -t docx+native_numbering
