Connect label of connector with a line to the connector

I want to replicate this stile of connector labeling:

This is as far as I can get.

As far as I can see there is no way to draw a line automatically or attach it manually.

Describe the solution you'd like

Under Border Color there should be a box connection line imho.

Describe alternatives you've considered

Using a normal text field but then you would have to use waypoints to connect it and it gets messy fast.
I would like to use the normal text that belongs to connectors.

I tried the backbone feature but it always ads a connector and has the wrong line width.
