hotkey only works inside mac application

I just installed this now and it looks like if I'm in chrome or some other app, the hotkey won't work, but if I'm in finder or system preferences, it will. Any way to fix this?

Hi, I placed icon of this script-application to Dock panel. It is not so fast as keyboard shortcut, but working ))
