Mmm, It's work on my side: Raspberry Pi OS 64-bit.
Are you using the 32-bit version? Maybe it's the case.

It seems to me like devilutionx does not have the filename: "devilutionx-linux-armhf.zip" in version 1.54 (the latest version).
But I am using a 32-bit and I can try to change to 64-bit if you think that will help.

I have now installed Raspberry Pi OS 64-bit and Diablo 1 works fine.
I was just wondering if I want to play Diablo II, I would need to change back to Pi OS 32-bit for that to work?

The engine for Diablo 1 is open source. It's not the case of Diablo 2, so the script for the second part only installs Wine for you, and you need to copy all the files (including the .exe).
It sucks because you are right. The short answer is that you need the 32-bit version of Wine to run that game. I’m thinking I should remove that script. I’m focusing on 64-bit for 2 years ago.
