This is not a bug. This is the intended behaviour |

As a long standing arrangement I accept the view this is currently regarded as intended behaviour, and may cause breaking changes if modified. However without the space prefix the consequence of merging "item-page" with "page-class" merely results in the renaming of "item-page" and does not confer any benefit. It takes away any custom css that targets "item-page". And the "page-class" isn’t valid as a new class either because it has been assimilated into "item-pagepage-class". Instead of calling this a page class it would be better described as "Item Page Suffix". Inserting your own space is a quirk to make this functional with two useful classes. |

Additional Comments
Discussion suggests this is a long standing bug and experienced admins are aware of a workaround, adding a space character before the Page Class value. However this is undocumented.
