AI Translations for Multilingual Content and Associations

My Wishlist for Joomla Multilingual going forward:

1. Create an article in one language (English for sure by maybe ANY language)
2. Automatically translate the article with AI to every other language currently on the website
3. Place the AI translated language pages into an unpublished state
4. Allow a translator to verify the translation and edit as necessary
5. This article would also link to all Associated Categories and Associated Tags included in the Article.
6. This would require every Category and Every Tag to have been created before using it.
7. One way to deal with this is to have all of the Categories and Tags also automatically created
8. The Categories and Tags would have to match the structure of the Original language
9. Basically the Categories and Tags hierarchy would be built and translated in the same way as the articles. .
10. Another BIG piece of this would be the ability to add a new language and then have the system regenerate all existing Articles, Categories and Tags for the new language.

The Joomla GSoC 2026 project page: https://community.joomla.org/gsoc/projects-2026.html has an idea being worked on. I hope this could then be expanded to allow for manual translation edits on the multiple language pages to make the concepts clearer for users reading in other languages. The project in question is titled "Project IV: Reinforcement Learning from Translators Feedback"

I am wanting to keep things as simple as possible. The reason I mention this is that there are quite a few multilingual options but all of them create their own unique database tables. They also all seem to want to do automatic language translations which is something I appreciate for a first draft, but then need to have a native speaker tweak to make it more understandable. My goal is now to try to only use Core Joomla as much as possible. So, I want to create articles and categories and tags in Joomla and then use Joomla associations to associate the multilingual articles and their multilingual categories and their multilingual tags.

Our Joomla development strategy is to build tools and a framework that will enable people to create excellent solutions. However, we have decided not to incorporate AI directly into Joomla. Instead, we want to enable AI to use Joomla and assist users with tasks. With this in mind, we have decided to reject the feature request for the Joomla core.

Your list of requirements is very good, but implementing it would be a lot of work — I know because I have done it before. We have built a tool for Joomla that can automatically translate content and related items, such as categories and menus.
