Framebreaks

Beamer has two independent concepts to split a frame into multiple pages, overlays and framebreaks. In some specific cases, like automatically generated bibliographies, the later can be useful.

In beamer, these two independent approaches don't work together well. Maybe xbeamer could come up with a unified concept?

I'm not a fan of framebreaks or of putting bibliographies in presentations (a ref at the bottom of a slide is different) :)

Both of those things said, at some stage we will I guess need to deal with this at least in the cases of auto-generation. I'll need to look over the beamer syntax as I never use breaks - I think a longer-term one.

You might not be in favour of it, but I can assure you that there are institutes in which bibliographies in presentations are mandatory, so we have to support them one way or another.

In my own presentations I allowed frame breaks in the auto-generated bibliography frame.

I didn't used to include bibliographies, but now I typically do, at least for teaching. They aren't really useful while presenting, but I think they are potentially useful for students reviewing the slides. And it is handy to be able to push the details off the main slides, especially for things like attributions for images, which are often required, but not really of any interest.

My objection, as you can probably guess, is that text in presentations should be minimal - and a bibliography simply doesn't belong here. But I also know that there's a need for some people to do these things - so we will find a way.
