Adding Door sensor for Garage Walk Door #590

Now that I'm looking at it in more, I also can't add my overhead doors as they are covers, and not binary. The device class is garage door, but I'm not seeing them in the integration. |

That should be it. If it is not showing up on the state attributes then it's invisible to the magic area. Does this only happen with entities from this Envisalink integration or with all door sensors? Does other type of sensors (e.g. motion) work fine?
Yeah for that you will need to make a template binary sensor of device class |

It does seem like it's just Envisalink that's not showing up in the attributes. I manually added the motion sensor from Envisalink and it's not showing up. Any non-Envisalink sensors I've added have worked, but they all have unique IDs; not sure if that's a factor or something specific with Envisalink. I actually ended up adding 3 template binary sensors. 1 for the walk door (which is redundant, but it works 😁) and 2 for the overhead doors. Good to know that's how you would do it! Awesome project btw, I've been enjoying learning it! |

That is weird. This functionality was built for those cases where Meanwhile the workaround is unfortunately making template sensors (or groups) for those Envisalink door sensors and you should be able to add them to the area.
Thanks! |

I'm using the Envisalink integration for my alarm system and I'm able to bring in all my door sensors as binary door sensors, however, I can't assign the proper area due to the legacy integration limitations.
The problem I'm running into is when I manually add it as a sensor to Magic Areas, it's not showing as one of the presence sensors in the area state attributes. I'm also assuming that's why it doesn't change the state from clear to occupied when the door is opened.
I do have the door sensor added under Include entities to this area and also I'm including doors in the presence sensor device classes.
Any thoughts why this isn't working?
