Picking an open source project for the community

We should consider starting an open source project or to pick an existing project and focus our efforts into contributing to it.

Main goals would be:

1. To add visibility to the community. As discussed earlier, we could use some international visibility.
2. To see how much of an impact we can have together as a community if we all focus our attention on one project (or a set of projects) at a given time.

Let's keep this issue as a placeholder/inbox for ideas on this topic.

@paulbrie that's a nice idea. Something that would make an impact in Romania is definitely something I would be interested in.

Must be noted here: Vlad's idea to build a progressive web app framework/bootstrap project, as the first open source project we start. :)

Hey :). Yeah, I'd love to make a starter that would include (or not) a framework (prolly React) + all the things needed for PWA (SW, App manifest, do some responsive design, code splitting, push notifications, applying PRPL, etc.)

It's harder to do it with a framework, but not impossible. Truth is, most of us use a framework/lib/combination these days.

I was a React + Redux + Webpack starter that's been migrated to latest of each (RR4, latest React + Redux, Webpack 2). Might be a good thing to build on top.
