Automatic theme switch (dark/light)

Documentation says:

BASE SCHEME:
    (default: dark on 256-color terminal, otherwise 16; If NO_COLOR is set, bw)

    dark    Color scheme for dark 256-color terminal
    light   Color scheme for light 256-color terminal

However, setting --color twice, with different values for dark and light results in a single (one that declared last) set of colour values used for both dark and light terminals.

What am I missing?

that's how the flags work, the last one wins. AFAIK there's no automated switch, you could do some scripting to call fzf with different arguments depending on the colorscheme used

Then what's the point of having dark and light?

If I use a light color scheme I can call use fzf --color light. I don't understand the question
