I got stuck on pushing my local commits to GitLab. The Git Push message kept loading indefinitely.

Took me a while to figure out this was because my terminal was asking me to insert my passphrase. To be expected if you have a passphrase set up for your id_rsa/ ssh key, but not something I though of initially.

Posting this for two reasons:

1. Others get to figure this out earlier
2. Would be nice if the loading screen either hints to inserting your passphrase or, even better, allows you to enter your passphrase from within the GUI.

I am hitting a similar one on JupyterLab Desktop. When running normal JupyterLab the passphrase prompt shows up in GUI (system/GNOME dialog) but when running via JupyterLab Desktop it prompts in terminal, deadlocking jupyterlab-git.

It might have to do with the server environment variable making the ssh client think that they are run without a display to show the GUI prompt. We could try to force SSH_ASKPASS_REQUIRE (https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/83986/tell-ssh-to-use-a-graphical-prompt-for-key-passphrase) or to fix it differently with environment variables.

Having a first-class support for ssh keys on the frontend would be an alternative solution, and probably the only option for JupyterHub and friends.
