Up and down arrow keys sending multiple presses

Hi Maxim

Using your v14 .ino, I have noticed that when the up or down arrows on the screen are pressed, it is acting as if I am holding the key down and sending multiple presses.

I am using a Nextion 7in screen but no other changes.

Hi Alan, can you please post a video of the problem? The motion doesn't stop at all or there's merely a delay?

The motion stops but not at the next step value always.

Alan, no, last email from you was Jan 10.

Sadly it's true that manual moves using screen sometimes overshoot. Try reducing start speed to combat that.

Increasing DELAY_BETWEEN_STEPS_MS will make it easier to make very small single steps.

Thank you, setting this value to 200 solved that issue.

I am now looking at the handwheels which I have set to 100ppr. The X axis is moving by the value of the step setting. The Z axis is moving by a greater value per step. e.g. one notch on the encoder gives a move from 3.42 to 3.5 with the step set to .01

My memory of all I went through on my custom FW is already fading, I guess that's how humans deal with trauma...;)

But I think the double tapping/tripple tapping issue is touchscreen only. If it ends up being too irksome, then adding a few hard keys for jogging should solve the issue. (Can't recall if Max's stock FW can take button inputs now, but I feel it's a simple and not very risky addition one could do in Gemini without going overboard like I did).

Anyhow, I think in my FW it finally got a lot better on the touchscreen too in some later iterations. Gemini may even have eliminated it fully so one tap equals one move, but I think the price paid was that the beginning of a continous move now has this jerky, double take start before it moves smoothly. Irksome in a different but possibly better way, though.
