Nope, this is not related to a problem.

Describe the feature you're interested in

I want a feature where we can get permission to see sample messages in a topic. Currently, we just have one option to read all the messages in a topic.
There can be a different tap under the topic dashboard, with 'Sample Messages'.
No. of messages to display on the Sample Messages tab can be configurable.

What are sample messages?

These are the messages present in the topic.

Why do we need a new tab for sample messages?

In the existing messages tab, a person can see all the messages in the topic, can download them, and use filters to find specific messages. In contrast, SampleMessages only allows the user to see a limited number of messages, with very few options to filter or query.

How does it benefit other users?

We have PII data in the topics, and we don't want to give read messages access. But for debugging and ease of use, we can allow them to see a few messages that can help them to solve the issues on their own.

@Haarolean After giving it some thought, I realized this can still be abused. One can write a script to fetch sample messages continuously and read all the messages. I think this will not serve the purpose I am looking for.
