Add Waze

You can add Waze to the tool possibly under community, or make a new category of Other.
Searching for a username you can do by searching for https://www.waze.com/user/editor/{user} It will return to https://www.waze.com/en/404.html if that username doesn't exist.

Hey @mx20100, thanks for the suggestion. Waze appears to be a GPS app similar to Google Maps and doesn’t really fit into any existing category. It also doesn’t seem like something people would be looking to have a username for.

Do you have any other ideas in mind, like why it should be added?

My idea was since some people use it as a sort of achievement hunting app, I believe some would want to have their own username on it. Also, why not haha. But as you said, if it doesn't fit any of the categories and you wouldn't want to have an "Other" category then no need to bother adding it.

Yeah, now I think it could be a good idea to create another category named others.
We will definitely implement it as an others category.

Sounds good. I might give it a shot. I'm kinda new with code, but this seems like a good practice run if you don't mind that.

After trying a few different solutions, it seems I can't get Waze username checking to work reliably. Waze serves a JavaScript-driven page with a 200 status (not 404 status as I initially expected), and redirects to /en/404.html only happen in a browser. Plain HTTP requests (httpx) aren't following the redirects.

Here's the debug output from one of my latest attempts:

@mx20100 Do you think the website lets you see the username as guest?
I just checked it myself that they don't really lets you inspect other's profile availability until you are a logged in user.
Anyways maybe I can easily implement this by extracting private API from their mobile app which is used to check username availability during username change.
This would require apk reverse engineering and ssl unpinnig of the apk for inspecting the app's network traffic (little bit more advanced).

I will give it a try when I am free.
Till then if anyone finds out easier approach that will be great (as I didn't make so many reasearch about it so there could be an easier alternative)

Actually that's a good point that I might've missed. I'm automatically logged into Waze, so it could be that you need to be logged into Waze to see that.

No worries @mx20100, I’ll check this one later, it’s a bit advanced from my point of view right now. If you are still interested to contribute in the meantime, you can start with something simple. For example, pick any popular website that fits into an existing category, or even introduce a new category if it makes sense, and add username support for it. Just make sure you follow the contributing guidelines and it’s a platform people would realistically want to check.

You don’t need to be an expert, every contribution, even small ones, helps the project grow. And if you ever get stuck, we’re always here to help.
