Adding user contact info – authored by – profile – email – active as host

There is something like a bug where, when a new program host is added, it is impossible to add them as a host of a program.
Basically, what we need to do right now to add a program host is:

1. create a new user - give them 'program host' permissions
2. create a 'user profile' with that user as the author
3. add that 'user profile' name to the program as a 'program host'
   Wouldn't it be possible to create a 'user profile' automatically when a new user is created?

this would have to be a field in the 'program host' user role that runs a script or something to create a user profile to fill in the values on a new 'person profile' when that user role is selected.
