How to setup a blank floppy

Sorry this is probably the most basic question to ask but I need help. I have a old smog emission test machine that the computer saves data to a floppy and keeps destroying the disks so I figured gotek unit would be the answer. I found one on Amazon that has LCD and dial with flash floppy already installed. My question is how do I setup the USB to have a blank disk that it can write/read data off of. I only need one disk so I don't have to have all 100 disks. I know a good amount about computers but this has me stumped because I can't find a good how to guide that works. Thanks in advanced.
