FreeOberon does not work on macOS.
(I did also try with Allegro5 brew version, and compiled by myself version, both do not work.)

% ./FreeOberon

(fob works, simple text based only examples work. Only those with graphics do not work.)

I have been able to localise the issue. After some edits, I've compiled Free Oberon on Mac (Apple Silicon M3, ARM64) and the thing that does not work is the module Graph + Allegro5 binding module. More precisely, the issue is that ALLEGRO_COLOR (which is a struct with 4 floats) is passed by reference, whereas it should be passed by value (to all Allegro functions that accept it).

I'm going to fix the issue and make an update, and also publish the Free Oberon version for Mac.

Did you do some progress? BTW: write "macOS" (beginning with a lower case m) for Mac and or these targets:
"macOS-arm64" and
"macOS-intel".

"macOS-criticx" (is it on mac? )

macOS is the official name of the operating system, not "Mac", nor "MacOS", nor "Mac OS", just in case you use it as a target folder/directory name and/or within your source code.

The issue has been fixed and the changes have been commited. Now module Graph works, and also the IDE is functioning. What does not work is identification of current system language on macOS.

There is an issue in Ofront+ Oberon-to-C translator, that is only visible on ARM64 on macOS.
I've raised the issue on Ofront+'s GitHub and the issue is being addressed currently:

I was able to compile and start FreeOberon on macOS (Intel).

% cd ./FreeOberon-main/

% ./FreeOberon

works, but compile shows:

"Runtime error 6"

Thins without graphic seems to work:

This has something to do with the fixes I had to make for macOS. The macOS version of Allegro5, which is used for graphics, requires all programs to use their own main function. That's why there is a new script patch.sh, that changes the name of the main function for the programs that use graphics in them.

Is there an easy way to create a pre-installed Free Oberon binary for the Mac/Intel platform?

I've finished my master's thesis today on constructing a natvie Oberon compiler for macOS/ARM64. It's called Moc (macOS Oberon Compiler). I think, the project may be a good starting point to create new native compilers and eco-system for Oberon.

The thesis is written in Russian and Latvian currently. I'll also translate it into English in a week or so. The Moc repo is https://github.com/kekcleader/moc

Compilation

I think we need a

./OfrontPlus-master/Target/macOS_intel

and

./OfrontPlus-master/Target/macOS_arm64

folder.

And then adjust the

./FreeOberon-main/install.sh

to support (download, compile) for target macOS_intel and macOS_arm64.

Binaries

I can provide
fob and FreeOberon
binaries for macOS intel.
And ofront+ and utils.

But there is no macOS app installer right now. It is possible as far as I know.

But, basically, on the macOS system, you just provide the FreeOberon.app.
It's a ZIP file with all in it required to run the app.

But it will depend on Allegro shared libs. Static linking maybe possible and/or include shared libs of Allegro within the app.

You can place XY.app where every you want. Default is /Applications folder.
But you can place those Apps anywhere.
