This is sweet I'd love to dockerize this for you. Can you give me a little run-down of the infrastructure setup? its clearly looking for a mysql server but I don't feel like spinning one up right now to go further.

I haven't looked at the code so I don't know how bound up mysql is, but, if we have to pair the service with a mysql container for the time being that's not the end of the world. at a minimum we can expose the connection parameters as environment variables, if you haven't already. can you tell me why you opt for mysql? it would be ideal to implement gorm and support sqlite and crucially postgres connections so that we mirror support of popular self-hosted git services.

In the start, it was sqlite but conncurrent connections and writes made sqlite not suitable or perhaps I didn't use it well. The DB is simple, either are fine - postgres or SQL. I prefer raw queries over an ORM - so gorm is only used for DB connections not entirely for ORM purposes in this repo.
If you can make that docker work, I ll merge it.

sqlite provides 2 models for concurrency as I understand it: shared cache or WAL. would I be repeating your experiments if I enabled these, or do you think its possible enabling them would make concurrent access work in this case?

Worth a try. But if you are going to make Dockerized, then it doesn't really matter. Just MySQL would continue to work.
