Description
Kiro Product
IDE
Feature Description
Hi Kiro team,
I'm a Java developer working primarily with IntelliJ IDEA on enterprise-level Maven multi-module projects. I'd love to see Kiro available as an IntelliJ IDEA plugin.
For Java/Kotlin developers, IntelliJ IDEA is the de facto standard IDE with deep language support, refactoring capabilities, and framework integrations (Spring, Jakarta EE, etc.) that are hard to replicate elsewhere. Switching to a separate IDE means giving up that ecosystem.
An IDEA plugin would allow developers like me to leverage Kiro's AI features β specs, hooks, steering, and intelligent code assistance β without leaving the tool we depend on daily.
I believe this would significantly expand Kiro's reach within the Java community. Thanks for considering it.
Use Case
My team maintains a Spring Boot based code scanning platform built as a multi-module Maven project (common, service, web modules). Our daily workflow heavily relies on IDEA's Spring integration, Maven dependency management, and Java-specific refactoring tools. We also use Kiro's AI capabilities like custom skills (e.g., SQL scan rules) and steering files to enforce coding standards. Currently, we have to context-switch between IDEA for core development and Kiro for AI-assisted workflows. An IDEA plugin would let us use Kiro's specs, hooks, and intelligent assistance directly within our primary development environment, eliminating this friction.
An IDEA plugin would significantly expand Kiro's reach within the Java community. Thanks for considering it.
