Description
Hello python-for-android maintainers and contributors,
I'm opening this issue to inquire about the current release strategy. I've noticed that the last official release on PyPI was v2024.01.21, published back in January 2024.
Looking at the project's history, the release cadence was previously quite regular, with new versions appearing every 3-4 months:
- v2024.01.21 (Jan 2024)
- v2023.09.16 (Sep 2023)
- v2023.05.21 (May 2023)
- v2023.02.10 (Feb 2023)
- And so on.
However, it's been many months since the last update. During this time, the develop branch has been incredibly active, with hundreds of commits bringing a massive number of improvements, including:
- Support for newer Python versions (3.12, 3.13, 3.14).
- A large number of new and updated recipes (
scipy, matplotlib, pycairo, grpcio, etc.). - Significant fixes and enhancements to the build process and Android API compatibility.
Users who rely on the stable PyPI releases are missing out on these substantial advancements.
Given this, I have a couple of questions:
- Has there been a change in the release strategy that has led to this pause?
- is there a timeline for when we might expect the next version?
