First name and last name as separate fields

Is it possible to enter the first name and last name in separate fields?
(Currently, there's only one name field, and then you don't know which is the first name or last name?)

You can use the {{ .Subscriber.FirstName }} function in your e-mail body to automatically parse first name from the field.

Unfortunately, it doesn't say how this works automatically.
What does it do if the person has more than two first or last names?

This would be very helpful. At the moment, I have imported subscribers in this format:

dick@soap.com,"Dick & Jane Soap","{}"

But the firstname used as @knadh advises resolves to "Dick". I'd like for "Dick & Jane" to be the firstname, such that campaigns are addressed "Dear Dick & Jane".

OK, I found the simple way to do this (after a bit of RTFM):

Dear {{ if .Subscriber.Attribs.Salutation }} {{.Subscriber.Attribs.Salutation}} {{ else }} {{ .Subscriber.FirstName }} {{ end }} 

Import emails:

email,name,attributes
dick@soap.com,"Dick & Jane Soap","{""country"":""GB"",""Salutation"":""Dick & Jane""}"

A little extra work at the start but once it's in your workflow, it provides the functionality I am needing here.
