Ability to query the current profile for a schedule / group

I switch between different profiles depending on presence or workday or similar for certain rooms. I would like to show in the room specific dashboard the current profile activated.

It would be helpful if a get_active_profile would exist, that allows to query the profile and display its name (e.g. as part of a Markdown card templating).

It looks like such a service does not yet exist, though the system seems to know the current profile (I can see/set it in the editor).

Of course a sensor for each climate device or similar would also help.

I see that I can request the schedule of an entity and query "active_schedule" attribute.

Please judge, if a separate service still would be helpful.

OK, I see that I cannot call services in templates? So a sensor would be the way to go...

(meanwhile I'll set a custom entity in my automation to store the profile name)

For each of your schedules you should have a climate entity, the "preset_mode" attribute should give you what you need, I'm not sure if that'll solve your issue though? Someone else mentioned sensors are more efficient for storage purposes too so I should look at switching over to them anyhow.

Thanks, I was not aware of these entities (I searched for them, but they seem to be generated only after restart of the integration and I looked for them before restart). An attribute is OK, in my case it is just a difference between "states" or "state_attr".

You can close the issue for me (though you might add the finding to your docs).
