IOS app crashing when accessing media library

Describe the bug
This is a strange issue as we are unable to replicate this during development, nor do I experience it with the iPhone myself. Though, lots (and I mean LOTS) of users of our app (link) report that the app crashes, when they attempt to access the media library (screenshots below).

Any help would be highly appreciated. We've been trying to fix this issue for weeks now but with no positive outcome.

No such issue on the Android version of the app.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

1. Download https://apps.apple.com/app/portraitmode-io/id6445845431?platform=iphone
2. Register for a free account
3. Click the "+" icon in the bottom navigation
4. Access the media library and grant full access to all photos
5. Now, either the app crashes or everything is working fine.

Expected behavior
Everything should just work fine but the app seems to crash for many users at that point.
